Christian Girlfriends Connection

Welcome to The CHRISTIAN GIRLFRIENDS CONNECTION

We all find ourselves tempted at times with thoughts that are contrary to the Word of God. Sometimes they just seem to come out of no where and we really have no choice but to hear the idea. The question is, what do we do with the thought after it crosses our mind. Scripture tells us that we are to take every thought captive to the Word of God. This means that we must know the Word of God to such a degree that we are able to quickly discern the ideas that invade our minds that are not of God. Jesus in Luke 4:1-2 was led into the wilderness by God to be tempted by the devil. The devil tempted Him in Luke 4:3, 7, 9. Jesus immediately knew these thoughts were contrary to God's ways and rejected them by throwing the Word of God at them. When we have thoughts cross our minds, we can ask ourselves where is this idea coming from? As soon as we recognize it is not in line with God's Word we can do as Jesus did and quote Scripture aloud at that thought. This is taking every thought captive to The Word of God. Would you care to share some of the kinds of battles that take place in your mind and how you have had success over them by taking them captive to The Word of God? Or, should you have any areas you are struggling to have victory in, perhaps we can come alongside you and help you find your way. With Love & Hugs, Sarah

Sarah,
I was thinking of that same concept this morning, concerning the things that I think I need to be happy and satisfied, especially when I read Jer. 31:14- I will fill the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people will be satisfied with My goodness, declares the Lord. As I feed on God's word and rest in his sovereignity, I will be satisfied, my mind will be more at peace, and the abundance of Christ within me will help me to walk by the Spirit and not the flesh. I find that the more I get into the truth, my soul and my mind are at peace because God is greater than any temptation or person or circumstance I face!

That's why I love the Word of God! There is power in it. It is alive like it says in Hebrews, living and active and sharper than any two edged sword! Know the Word. Hide it in your heart.
