What do you all think about Obama? I just don't see how a man could spend 20 years with a man he calls his mentor and not know the guys views. We all need to be praying for the upcoming election. These are critical times.

I agree with you! It seems that Obama is going to be president, and the only thing that gives me assurance about this election is the word that God sets all authority. So, no matter what happens, God is in control of this nation and his people, and we can rest in that. I think sometimes this man being president will be the start of some different things in our nation, things that will spur on the events prophesied in the word. I really believe this, but I know God is over all authority, and his purposes will prevail NO MATTER WHAT. I'm so glad that the Lord is the one in charge!!! I hope everyone has a good day.

I agree with you, Valerie. Knowing God, knowing we are in His hands brings us peace even in the midst of turmoil around us. It is important we pray, however, as God has ordained prayer as a vehicle to bless His people. We need to pray for godly leaders to head our governments as when the Israelites were led by godly men, they prospered and when not, they were in trouble. As we pray forgodly leaders according to Scripture and then should a man who is not godly win the race, THEN we can begin praying for that leader as according to Scripture we should pray for all men in authority over us that we can live peaceful lives.
We don't know exactly what our country's role is in the end time events prophesied nor do we know when even though it does appear they could happen in our life time. Therefore, my thoughts are let's pray for godly leaders to win the race, for peace in our country and in Israel and for God to have mercy on His, give us grace as a nation and as individuals and ask for His prosperity to come into our lives. Meanwhile, we know God holds it all in His hand and will use even the things the devil brings to pass for His purpose and plans. He is a loving God and all powerful and He holds us in His hand. Knowing He is sovereign God does make it available for us to sleep at night no matter what the outcome of the election when we have prayed.

I agree with you, Sarah. This is more than a pastor in his life, it is his mentor and friend. There is an old Spanish proverb, "Tell me who your friends are, and I'll tell you who you are." Hmmmm......

Obama really scares me. I really worry about someone with his lack of experience running our country. I also wonder what else will come out later down the road. So, much has come out over the last few months. What is going to come up over the next 4 ½ years.

I don't know what is going to happen next, but the one thing that helps me not to be afraid of the outcome of this election is that God is in control of everything and he will take care of his people no matter who is in authority. That one truth helps me to be at ease about the future!

Carol, I don't think the issues are about racism at all. I know several Black families who agree with McCain's philosophies and several whites including my father who agree with Obama's philosophy. I definitely think this race is about issues and honesty.
I do agree with you though that there are stark differences between the two tickets. I also agree with you that we don't need to have the same thing going on in Washington that has been going on for several years now. We all have different perspectives on this election. When listening to the VP debate this week, I thought Palin did wonderful. I thought Biden did a great job too except for the 14 misrepresentations he spoke. My husband who reads everything and keeps up on what has gone on over the years, caught every one of them. I myself would not have ever known(smile). But the next day they were all on the internet and on the Fox News.
I think our part as Christians right now is to PRAY AND VOTE according to how we feel God is leading us. But ultimately whomever wins this race, we have to know that God is sovereign and in control of all things. The Bible tells us that it is He who sets men in authority!!! Understanding this truth and receiving it into our hearts can bring us peace. I am praying for my pick BUT I then pray But, God YOUR WILL not mine be done. God knows it all and I know I don't so I put my trust in Him. Whomever He allows to win this race, I will pray for them with all my heart and pray for God to guide them. We who know God do not need to fear. We are in His hands and we can trust Him. The Word tells us to be anxious about nothing but with prayer and supplication give thanks to God! God is not surprised by anything that goes on and no matter what is surrounding us, God can make a way for each of us as we learn to rely on Him and not our government. His government is higher and much better (smile). Thanks for your post Carol. May God's grace keep you in peace during this challenging season we are all in and May His Kingdom come and His will be done it!
